Privacy Policy

Effective date: 14 May 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how the CueView iOS application (the "App"), published by Matt Peel ("me", "we", "us", "our"), handles information. It applies to the App as distributed via Apple's App Store.

Summary

We do not collect, store, transmit, sell, or share any personal information. The App has no accounts, no sign-in, no analytics, no advertising, no tracking, and no third-party SDKs that would do so on our behalf.

If you can read no further than this paragraph, you have the full picture.

What information we do not collect

We do not collect or process:

  • Your name, email address, phone number, or any other contact information.
  • Your location (precise or approximate).
  • Your IP address.
  • Device identifiers (IDFA, IDFV, advertising identifiers).
  • Crash logs, analytics events, or usage telemetry.
  • Photos, contacts, calendars, microphone or camera input.
  • Any data about the lighting cues you display, the sequences you select on your console, or any other operational data from your show.

The App makes no network connections to any server we operate. We have no servers.

What stays on your device

The App stores a small amount of information locally on your device only, using the iOS UserDefaults system. This information never leaves your device. It includes:

  • The IP address or hostname and TCP port of the grandMA3 console you have configured the App to connect to.
  • Your display preferences (font choice, font sizes, spacing, toggles for cue names and the debug log).
  • Whether you most recently chose to be connected, so the App can automatically reconnect when re-opened.
  • An in-memory debug log of recent network events (only retained while the App is running; cleared on relaunch or via the Clear log button).

You can delete all of this information at any time by uninstalling the App.

Network connections made by the App

The App makes a single category of network connection: a plain TCP connection over your local network to the IP address and port you enter in Settings. This is the address of a grandMA3 lighting console running our companion plugin, on a network you control.

  • The destination is chosen by you. We have no involvement in or visibility of it.
  • No data about you is transmitted on this connection. The protocol is one-way reception of cue state from your console.
  • The connection is unencrypted and unauthenticated by design, because it is intended to operate only on a closed show LAN.

When the App first attempts to make a local-network connection, iOS will display a system prompt asking for permission. Granting or denying this permission is your choice and is handled by iOS, not by us.

Third-party services

The App uses no third-party services, SDKs, analytics tools, advertising networks, or back-end providers. The only external party involved in delivering the App to you is Apple, whose own privacy practices for the App Store and for iOS itself are governed by Apple's privacy policies and are outside our control.

Children's privacy

The App is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone — children or adults — because, as described above, we do not collect information at all.

Your rights

Because we do not collect, process, or store any personal information about you on our systems, there is no personal data for us to access, correct, export, or delete on your behalf. Local on-device data can be removed at any time by uninstalling the App.

If you are in a jurisdiction (such as the United Kingdom, the European Union, or California) that grants you specific data-protection rights, those rights are not engaged by this App because there is no personal data being processed by us.

Changes to this policy

If we ever change the way the App handles information, we will update this policy and publish the new version at the same URL referenced from the App Store listing. The "Effective date" at the top will reflect the most recent change. Material changes will be communicated in the release notes of the App Store update that introduces them.
